# Old-Fashioned Macaroni

- 8 oz tomato sauce

## Instructions

1. **Brown the meat.** In a large pot or deep skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if needed.

2. **Add onions.** Add the chopped onion to the browned beef and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened and translucent.

3. **Add tomatoes and seasoning.** Pour in the crushed tomatoes with their juice, tomato sauce, salt, and black pepper. Add 1 cup of water and stir to combine.

4. **Bring to a boil.** Increase heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.

5. **Add macaroni.** Stir in the dry elbow macaroni, making sure it's submerged in the liquid. Reduce heat to medium-low.

6. **Simmer until tender.** Cover and simmer for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the macaroni is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid. Add a splash more water if needed.

7. **Rest and serve.** Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes before serving. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
